RS232 Current Loop Converters
RS232 Current loop converters provides a solution for point to point applications where RS-232 data needs transmitting over 20mA current loop. Our current loop converters can be set to either active or passive on both the transmitter and receiver and allow transmission up to 6km. Current loop devices use current on or current off to transmit binary digits. B&B current loop converters interface RS-232 and RS-422/485 systems to the most common current loop ports, 20 mA ports with open circuit voltages up to 30 V. Many models can be modified for higher loop currents and voltages. To maintain isolation between the RS-232 device and the Current Loop device, a separate isolated power supply should be used to make the Current Loops active. If the Current Loop is made active using the same supply as the RS232 side of the converter, there will be no protective isolation.Designed for use in harsh environments, the B+B Smartworx RS-232 to 20mA current loop converters ensure communications over long distances and in environments with high levels of interference.
